Well here's a sorry story from my first hand to you
I saw it with my own eyes, so sure I say it's true
It happened out in B.C., a land there is no finer,
and the subject of our story is the capture of Bill Miner
Well true he was an outlaw from Californi-a
He spent some time in irons then headed North to stay
but 3 years in he got quite bored and sought he out in Mission
a train both laden down in drafts and in the right condition
Well Billy Miner was no fool, and despite his occupation, neither was he cruel
Polite and tough, he knew a gun, but what I've come to b'lieve is he's not an only son
So yea he robbed that CPR and made off with his cash
and somewhere in the woods well he buried all his stash
but then he made what people think was a momentous blunder
but as he'd never been a fool it makes me stop and wonder
So 2 years down the road well he boarded on a train
His mask somehow came off for just a fifteen dollar gain
Yet on that stormy afternoon as car to car they ran
They lost their sight of Bill and so fell right into his plan
Well Billy Miner was no fool, and despite his occupation, neither was he cruel
Polite and tough, he knew a gun, but what I've come to b'lieve is he's not an only son
Yes I was there that day boy, a lad of five on board
and saw Bill Miner sitting dry despite the way it poured
In burst the law, "Don't shoot, you mistook me for another!
My name is George!", he screamed, "I'm the Train Robber's brother!"
Well no one would believe him, and so away he went
He never changed his story, or ever did repent
So I suggest Bill's reason for getting on that car
was something much more sinister and cleverer by far
Well Billy Miner was no fool, and he made his long lost twin George to be the perfect tool
Yes no one now would hunt him down, and so he grabbed his loot and shaved and left that sorry town

The Bould O'Donoghue
01:55
|
|||
Well here I am from Paddy's land A land of high renown
I've broke the hearts of all the girls For miles 'round Dublin town
And when they hear that I'm awa' they'll raise a hullabaloo
When they hear about the handsome lad that they call O’Donoghue
For I’m the boy to please her, and I’m the boy to tease her
I’m the boy to squeeze her and I’ll tell you what I’ll do
I’ll court her like an Irishman with me brogue and blarney too if I can
With your wollockin’, swollockin’, hollokin’, rollickin’, bould O’Donoghue
Oh I wish my love was a red red rose growin’ on the garden wall
And me to be a dew drop and upon her brow I’d fall
Perhaps that she might think of me as a rather heavy dew
The more she’d love the handsome lad that they call O’Donoghue
CHORUS
Well I hear that Queen Victoria has a daughter fine and grand
Perhaps she’d take it into her head for to marry an Irishman
If I could only get the chance to have a word or two
I’m sure she’d take a notion to the bould O’Donoghue

Sweet Sofie
04:37
|
|||
On every single Friday all the boys would gather round
We'd meet up at the local bar, our favourite place in town
We'd take up several tables and we'd laugh and cause a fuss
and to our tables buckets came with drinks for all of us
Well Rick would spin the music and the bar would be a sight
We'd sing out Kareoke till the early morning light
Despite the many drinks we had it wasn't very long
Till everyone throughout the place would hear our merry song
We yelled "Sofie! Bring to us our beer!"
and as she brought the pitchers our the boys would raise a cheer
We all knew why our mouths were dry, and who would be our pearl
and on her way we each would say, "Sweet Sofie, you're our girl."
Yes Tank would dance the running man and Lunchbox drank his fill
Old Gump he talked to everyone and Pat would simply chill
Bluto knew the answer to most every question had
and if you sought the drunkest one, your target was The Chad
Well Flounder he was fearless and would do most anything
Timmy was the little one and Jay Mac had the bling
Diesel watched o'er everything silent and sincere
and when they all were thirsty boy-o this is what you'd hear
We yelled "Sofie! Bring to us our beer!"
and as she brought the pitchers our the boys would raise a cheer
We all knew why our mouths were dry, and who would be our pearl
and on her way we each would say, "Sweet Sofie, you're our girl."
Thinking back about those days sure brings me to grin
Shots of Jack, tarantulas, it should have been a sin
but even through the bad times I don't regret the days that have been
Yes everyone inside that place sure knew we were there
We drank and sang and carried on without the slightest care
and if sometimes there was a tune that didn't please the bar
Well sure as there were drinks abound Black Betty wasn't far
and when the night was winding down our eyes so glossy bright
and nine times outta ten my friends there never was a fight
Well Rick would give us all a nod and say it was last call
and heaven and the earth would shake from chanting one and all
We yelled "Sofie! Bring to us our beer!"
and as she brought the pitchers our the boys would raise a cheer
We all knew why our mouths were dry, and who would be our pearl
and on her way we each would say, "Sweet Sofie, you're our girl."

May

I know that I've been traveling on my own road
Use to holding the weight of my own load
But it's time for my fears to step aside
The path I'm wandering along is much more wide
The day just seems so much brighter than what it has been
The brown and the grey look more faded surrounded by green
and all of the sadness that's stayed close to me
Has finally turned into something that's setting me free
Seen the world through eyes both clouded and sad
Thought too hard on what's lacking and not what I had
Maybe this is a time of peace between wars
A time of growing, of changing, of opening doors
The day just seems so much brighter than what it has been
The brown and the grey look more faded surrounded by green
and all of the sadness that's stayed close to me
Has finally turned into something that's setting me free
Here comes my May
It's here today
Don't fade away
Watched the sky for so long seen so many moons
So it's true what they say that time can heal wounds
Now I'm watching my children grow everyday
Time, that I once wished would pass, now begging to stay
The day just seems so much brighter than what it has been
The brown and the grey look more faded surrounded by green
and all of the sadness that's stayed close to me
Has finally turned into something that's setting me free

Tom Malloy
03:43
|
|||
Well I don't feel like singin', I may never again
We buried poor old Tom today, he was my dearest friend
And though I'm sure to miss him, it may not be for long
With a broken heart I write this song
He always gave a chuckle, or bellowed out a laugh
Down at the pub he'd often be, a favourite of the staff
He always left a tip, in money or advice
That he gave too much was his only vice
Oh Tom Malloy, ya lived each day so grand
Through drink and late night escapades ya ran to meet yer end
But if this one life, is the only one we get
Ya lived yours well, without regret
He liked a hardy handshake, and women sweet and fair
He drank his whiskey so darn fast it barely touched the air
He'd often be heard whistlin' or passin' round a joke
And he held yer gaze whene'er he spoke
Oh Tom Malloy, ya lived each day so grand
Through drink and late night escapades ya ran to meet yer end
But if this one life, is the only one we get
Ya lived yours well, without regret
And so this rounds for you Tom to know you we were blessed
In friendship and in loyalty, we all knew ye were best
In heaven seek out Jesus, you'll like him very fine
We hear he turns water to wine
Oh Tom Malloy, ya lived each day so grand
Through drink and late night escapades ya ran to meet yer end
But if this one life, is the only one we get
Ya lived yours well, without regret

The Midnight Ship
03:45
|
|||
Midnight darkness covers like a sheet
This close to home I've always landed on my feet
Oh, I hear the waves go crashing on the shore
But the sky won't cease to pour
Drifting through the water thunder fills the air
Tension mounting fear is everywhere
Oh, I'm searching for that angel of the night
We need that guiding light
And will we make it home? Praying for our lives, praying for our souls
And will we die alone? Taken from our wives, buried on this shoal
It's near the end and all seems lost what can we do
We need the light to show, the safe way through
Don't smash against the rocks, or all will die
Where is that path of light, to cut the sky?
Striking hard into the rocks all eyes on me
People screaming, crying, cast into the sea
Oh God, as the ship begins to sink below
Will they ever know?
That we thought of home, praying for our lives, praying for our souls
And will we die alone? Taken from our wives, buried on this shoal

Strange
03:03
|
|||
Home's been all over the place, this town's been lost somewhere in space
Summer crowds and seasonal shops, local flirts and small town cops
A place that I so wanna forget, a place I left with one regret
I just came back to see your smile
I don't plan on staying awhile
Your face it hasn't changed
But all around it seems so strange
Swung down to old Jim's bar, two fights a night would make for par
Remember working tossing drunks, drinking late and teenage punks
Red light for the back room, some escaped but for most it was a tomb
I just came back to see your smile
I don't plan on staying awhile
Your face it hasn't changed
But all around it seems so strange
And I can see that now, the past has had it's bow
Time's a one way street, where there is no repeat
I just came back to see your smile
I don't plan on staying awhile
Your face it hasn't changed
But all around it seems so strange

This Single Moment
03:38
|
|||
I'll spend the day, and you'll spend the day I know it
Thinking of how to show it so each can know it's true
Wade through the day, as though life were this single moment
Afraid if we blink we'll throw it back into the blue
And when I see his face I'll know it
That's when all the world will fade
Left there, in it's place I'll grow it
The love I have for you
And I'll hold him in that place I know it
Far from all of man's disgrace
And hope in that place I'll show it
The love I have for you
I'll spend the day, and you'll spend the day I know it
To gaze on his face we'll show it, the wonder in our stare
There he will lay, and time, he will seem to slow it
If we can save that moment there's nothing we can't bear
And when I see his face I'll know it
That's when all the world will fade
Left there, in it's place I'll grow it
The love I have for you
And I'll hold him in that place I know it
Far from all of man's disgrace
And hope in that place I'll show it
The love I have for you

My Grandpa was a farmer he came to this land
He bought up a farm for to work with his hands
He recalls with a laugh that would make the fields ring
He had horses and harness and everything
He planted his fields all in oats and in rye
Up with the morning's first light in the sky
But into the evening the praises he'd sing
For horses and harness and everything
The winters were dreary and deep was the snow
And they traveled by cutter wherever they'd go
The cutter made way for the plow in the spring
For they'd horses and harness and everything
Then a highway was built from the East to the West
And right through his fields was the route they deemed best
So he sold all he had and gave his land to the King
All his horses and harness and everything
Horses and harness and everything
